Performers

Compagnie LaPerformance

The Compagnie LaPerformance was formed in 2012 under the direction of Julie Jaffrennou. She brought together individual artists of various styles and backgrounds who have continually performed in Jaffrennou’s productions. Working within this group structure has provided the possibility to greatly enhance the storylines and imagery in the performances. This has served to shift the focus from the individual performers to the group as a whole.

Julie Jaffrennou – artistic director

Julie Jaffrennou studied at the Ecole des Beaus Arts in Angers (F) and at the College of Fine Arts in Braunschweig (Ger). Her main professors were Anzu Furukawa (Butoh Dance) and Marina Abramovic (Performance), who have had a strong influence on her work. For the last 25 years, she has been working as a performance artist, showing her work in Europe, Korea and Canada. In 2012 she founded the company LaPerformance, in which she works across generations and with interdisciplinary performers. The development of concepts, from the idea, the stage design to the costume, and the leadership of the performers* is a constant search for a visual language beyond the individual artistic disciplines and thus a new theater form.
